You're absolutely true about this. Have read almost same kind of information from some other resource too. However, the additional thing other people say is that search engines hate directory submissions and link exchange and they will throw you out of their search results. Is that true? For example http://www.bnbuzz.com/link-building.html. How much true this is? is directory submission a poison for SEO?

Thanks for the heads up. Link building is without a doubt the most important part of the search engine optimization process. Your site may be centered around well chosen keywords and top quality content, but without an important number of incoming links with your main keywords as link text it will be difficult to obtain those top search engine rankings.
